In a strategic move to align with evolving industry needs and global trends, the Boating Industry Association (BIA) has announced significant changes to Australia's boat show landscape for 2025.
These changes aim to enhance engagement, showcase innovation, and cater to the diverse interests of the boating community.

The first major event, the Sydney Boat Show, is scheduled from 14 to 17 August 2025 at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. This indoor event will feature a comprehensive range of paddle, power, and sail boats up to 10 metres in length, alongside cutting-edge marine technology, accessories, and a strong focus on the boat-based fishing sector. The venue offers world-class exhibition facilities, excellent public transport access, and ample parking, providing an accessible and expansive platform for exhibitors and attendees.

Following this, the Sydney International On-Water Boat Show will take place from 13 to 16 November 2025 at Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour. This event will provide a dedicated on-water platform to showcase a wide array of vessels, from alternative fuel-powered sports boats to luxury motor cruisers. Set against the stunning backdrop of Darling Harbour, the show will feature an impressive on-water display of luxury vessels and high-performance boats, complemented by vibrant foreshore activations and marine lifestyle exhibits.

BIA President Adam Smith highlighted the strategic importance of these new formats, emphasising their role in providing platforms for the marine industry to showcase new products, connect with buyers, and elevate brand profiles. The August event at Sydney Olympic Park is designed to cater to a broad audience with its indoor setting and diverse exhibits, while the November on-water show at Darling Harbour aims to attract serious buyers and marine enthusiasts with its immersive experience.

These innovative changes reflect the BIA's commitment to supporting industry growth, enhancing marine-based employment, and stimulating economic activity within Australia's boating sector. By introducing these dynamic formats, the BIA aims to modernise the boat show experience, promote inclusivity, and inspire a new generation to discover the joys of boating.
