In a significant development for Australia's marine insurance industry, Rhodian Group has announced the launch of Marinex Underwriting, a new agency dedicated to providing specialised marine insurance products tailored to the unique needs of the Australian market.

Marinex Underwriting is set to offer a range of products, including cargo, carriers, commercial hull, and marine liability insurance. This strategic move aims to address the complex and evolving requirements of the marine sector, ensuring comprehensive coverage for various maritime operations.

The agency is backed by global specialty insurance distributor Amwins and co-founded by industry veterans Janelle Karnib, Chris Kelly, and Ainsley Smith. Their combined expertise positions Marinex to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional service to clients across the country.

According to the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI), global marine insurance premiums increased by 5.9% in 2023, reaching US$38.9 billion. This growth reflects the rising demand for specialised marine insurance products, making Marinex's entry into the Australian market both timely and strategic.
