The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) attributes the rise in scooter sales to their practicality for short trips and ease of navigation through city traffic. FCAI Chief Executive Tony Weber noted that scooters are regaining popularity among urban riders, offering a practical and economical transport option for commuting and navigating city traffic.
While scooters saw an uptick, other motorcycle categories faced declines. Off-highway vehicles experienced the steepest drop at 4.3%, now representing 15.3% of the market. Off-road motorcycles decreased by 0.7% but remain the largest segment at 41.2%, and road bikes fell by 3.8%, holding 37.8% of the market share.
Manufacturers like Yamaha continue to lead overall sales, followed by Honda, Kawasaki, and KTM. Despite the broader market challenges, these brands have maintained positive results through 2025.
For potential buyers, the growing popularity of scooters presents an opportunity to consider more economical and efficient commuting options. As urban areas become more congested and the cost of living rises, scooters offer a viable solution for daily transportation needs.
